September 24, 2010 – 15 Most Wanted Capture – More than five years after he
went on the run and nearly two years after being placed on the U.S. Marshals 15 Most Wanted list, Mexican authorities in Reynosa, Mexico, arrested murder suspect Joseph Allen Garcia today and expelled him to the United States. The Policia Ministerial del Estado in Reynosa, PME (State Ministerial Police for the State of Tamaulipas) were investigating a crime in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, involving Garcia as a suspect. When the PME made contact with the suspect, they were able to identify him as Joseph Allen Garcia wanted in Laredo, Texas.
September 23, 2010 – Kevin Alexander AKA “Twin Diddy” has been a fugitive since June 20th, 2001 and was apprehended by the Regional Fugitive Task Force (RFTF) in Staten Island, NY on Wednesday September 22nd, 2010. Deputy U.S. Marshals in Florence, SC developed information of the whereabouts of Alexander and requested the assistance from the Deputy U.S. Marshals in Eastern New York.
September 23, 2010 – Wanted fugitive Lateeshia Scott was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force yesterday at an apartment building in Cleveland, OH. Scott was wanted by the Cleveland Police Department for a bank robbery which occurred on September 4, 2010.
September 21, 2010 – David Scott Browder of Lexington, SC was arrested by the Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force in West Palm Beach, FL. Browder was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service for Failure to Appear for Trial on November 2nd, 2009. Browder is charged with: Felon in Possession of a Weapon, Possession with intent to Distribute and Distribution of Cocaine, Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime, and Failure to Appear as required by conditions of bond. Browder faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment if convicted at trial.
September 17, 2010 – Members of the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested absconded sex offender Calen Girtman in Winter Haven, Florida after a month long fugitive investigation. According to the Tallahassee Police Department, Girtman absconded from his address on July 7, 2010 when he cut off his court ordered Mobile Tracking Device. Girtman was being supervised by the Florida Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Board for a prior felony conviction for Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration Requirements.
September 16, 2010 – On September 16, 2010, Deputy U.S. Marshals and Task Force Officers from the Phoenix based Arizona WANTED Violent Offender Task Force arrested James Talley, 39, at a residence in the area of 48th St. and McDowell in Phoenix. James Talley was wanted by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office in Eureka, CA for his alleged involvement in a violent murder that occurred in December 2009.
September 13, 2010 – Jorge Torres-Puello was extradited from the Dominican Republic to the United States today. The Dominican Republic recently ordered his extradition and today U.S. Marshals escorted Torres-Puello to Vermont where he is wanted on alien smuggling offenses. Torres-Puello was the subject of an international manhunt that spanned several countries earlier this year.
September 10, 2010 – On Saturday, August 28, 2010, five years after Hurricane Katrina devastated the New Orleans metro area and the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Deputy U.S. Marshals (DUSMs) from the Eastern District of Louisiana in New Orleans partnered with the Dryades YMCA/James M. Singleton Charter School to remember that fateful day and celebrate the city’s rebirth.
September 10, 2010 – The U.S. Marshals Service and its law enforcement partners in the Low Country conducted Operation AWOL from September 7-9. Operation AWOL was a joint fugitive apprehension initiative that targeted sex offenders. Over the course of the three day operation, 33 physical arrests were made closing 72 warrants. Additionally, 20 Low Country sex offenders with active warrants were located in other states and discovered to have been properly registered in those states.
