Andrew Breitbart’s untimely passing has been a shock to all of us who have had parallel lives in the cause of defending America and American values.
Many have rushed to volunteer that Andrew had some heart issues, and I can fully understand that, as I myself have had those when I discovered the extent of the silent Muslim invasion in our country, yes, my heart skipped some beats as I, horrified, realized the magnitude of their progress…
However, who will really know what happened last night, while Andrew was walking his dog in the middle of the streets in Los Angeles, unless a doctor can certify it besides the coroner.
Unsurprisingly, the right has reacted with sadness and disarray to Breitbart’s untimely passing, while the left did not lose a beat and began looking at it with a touch of vindictive quest as news of the titan’s fall settled in.
As Andrew leaves us, a time of reflexion imposes to analyze where is American Conservatism, if it still exists and in any event, whatever it remains of it, where it is heading.
Of all descriptions and concepts identifying American Conservatism, William F. Buckley Jr., is probably the one who advances the most comprehensive notion:
“Among our convictions: It is the job of the centralized government (in times of peace) to protect its citizens’ lives, liberty and property. All other activities of government tend to diminish freedom and hamper progress. The growth of government, meaning the dominant social feature of this century, must be fought relentlessly. In this great social conflict of the era, we are, without reservations, on the libertarian side. The profound crisis of our era is, in essence, the conflict between the Social Engineers, who seek to adjust mankind to conform with scientific utopias, and the disciples of Truth, who defend the organic moral order. We believe that truth is neither arrived at nor illuminated by monitoring election results, binding though these are for other purposes, but by other means, including a study of human experience. On this point we are, without reservations, on the conservative side.”
That’s in theory a great approach and definition. But throughout time, there have been a series of developments and evolutions that have swayed the movement from one extreme of the spectrum to the other.
In this beginning of the twenty first century, however, seen from practical terms, what we are witnessing is the disintegration of the movement, from the surface to the very deep roots of it.
As a matter of fact, the amount of RINOs resulting from politicians’ affiliation to the GOP, has been staggering and year in year out represent a serious deterioration not only in their numbers but in the actual decision-making of critical topics, where they have behaved more as democrats disguised as GOPs.
For instance, as recent as two days ago, Wade Kach’s a Maryland Republican Delegate, who had initially opposed the state’s proposed gay marriage law, changed his mind after being seated next to a gay couple at an event and helped pass the legislation through the state’s General Assembly, 72-67. The magic number needed for passage was 71.·
Regarding immigration, younger Republicans are more in favor of establishing a path to citizenship for those immigrants who are illegally in our country.
In a nutshell, it is more often than not, that GOPs cross lines to meet democrats half-way, to the greatest despair of those who voted to install them as their representatives.
With Andrew Breitbart’s untimely passing, our thoughts go to his wife and their four children… just as in life, also in death, Andrew is leaving a lesson for America’s conservatives, in a milieu plagued by philanderers, he has been the epitome of a hawkish conservative movement and leaves a beautiful family: he is survived by his wife, Susannah; four children, Samson, 12, Mia, 10, Charlie, 6, and William, 4; his parents, Jerry and Arlene; and a sister, Tracy. The family has not yet announced memorial arrangements.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office confirmed that it will investigate the case, given that Breitbart was only 43.·
But, regardless of the results, the fact is that Andrew has passed away only a few weeks after he had announced at the Conservative PAC that he had videos that could make Obama’s re-election, impossible, and that simple fact impose some reflection.
In a world of broken homes, Andrew Breitbart leaves a beautiful American family, where he and wife Susannah were the happy parents of four… and as he left his home that winter night to walk his dog, none of them knew he was taking the last path that would take him to meet his fate.
In life, Andrew Breitbart led the path, showed Americans to be bold and assertive, and to be fearless in the face of injustice.
Being a conservative is more than just been a hawk, it’s about believing, at all times and under all circumstances, in values of God, religion, country, traditional family values and life values, and Breitbart represented all that and more.
And he leaves a void in the true side of Conservative America, where he will be bitterly missed.
Andrew Breitbart, R.I.P.
