Border Patrol agents seized more than 17,088 pounds of marijuana, 68 pounds of methamphetamine, and 2.8 pounds of heroin. Agents arrested 14 criminal aliens and 8 gang members. There were two rocking incidents. 

Reported on September 1, 2011 El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,019 pounds of marijuana, a sport utility vehicle, and arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico near Calexico, California. Agents observed the vehicle entering the United States through the desert and responded to the area. The vehicle became stuck and the occupants attempted to abscond. The subjects were located with the assistance of a CBP Office of Air and Marine air asset. The marijuana was found in the vehicle.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Barrio Azteca gang and records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 52 doses of suspected lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), recovered a stolen sport utility vehicle, and arrested two United States Citizens (USC) near Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Records checks revealed one of the subjects had an extensive criminal history, and an active warrant of arrest issued in the state of New Mexico for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2.8 pounds of heroin, 113 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Laredo, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the narcotics.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,157 pounds of marijuana and a minivan near Midway, Texas. The minivan containing the marijuana was discovered abandoned.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued and arrested an illegal alien from Guatemala near Rio Grande City, Texas. Agents observed the subject attempting to swim across the Rio Grande River. He fell into distress and agents deployed a water rescue line to pull him from the river. The subject was unable to grasp the line and struggled to stay afloat. An agent jumped into the river and brought the subject safely to shore.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from the Dominican Republic near Progresso, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Why, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction in the state of Tennessee for sexual battery and had been previously removed from the United States.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sex with a minor and had been previously removed from the United States.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Ocotillo, California. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest issued in the state of California for lewd sexual acts with a child. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Rio Bravo, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction in the state of North Carolina for indecent liberties with a child and had been previously removed from the United States.

Miami Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a national of Jamaica near Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The subject was identified as a member of the 90’s Boy gang and records checks revealed he had a prior conviction for 2nd degree murder.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,995 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Sarita, Texas. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the trailer and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Falfurrias, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,840 pounds of marijuana and a pickup truck near Sonoita, Arizona. The vehicle containing the marijuana was discovered abandoned.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 5,269 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Hebbronville, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Brownsville, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the MS-13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,638 pounds of marijuana, a truck, and arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near La Rosita, Texas. Agents observed the truck approaching the international border after hearing a boat near the U.S. shore of the Rio Grande River. Agents approached the truck as it left the area and discovered the marijuana inside.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,546 pounds of marijuana, a sport utility vehicle, and arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Weslaco, Texas. Agents observed the vehicle approaching the international border and as they approached, the subject abandoned the vehicle and attempted to abscond. The marijuana was found in the abandoned vehicle.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Santa Cruz, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction in the commonwealth of Virginia for homicide and had been previously removed from the United States.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near San Luis, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Sureño gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 23.4 pounds of liquid methamphetamine, a vehicle, a loaded 9mm handgun, and arrested two USCs at the traffic checkpoint near Sarita, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle a subsequent search by agents uncovered the narcotics and weapon.

Swanton Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Syria, and returned his two abducted children to their mother and Canadian authorities near Derby Line, Vermont. The subject was encountered as he attempted to enter the United States illegally with the two children. Records checks revealed he had an active warrant of arrest issued in Canada for child abduction.

Del Rio Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued a woman that had been abducted at knifepoint in Eagle Pass, Texas. After receiving a call for assistance from local law enforcement officials, agents located the victim and assailant after a brief search. The victim and assailant were turned over to local law enforcement authorities.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Hidalgo, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction in the state of Wisconsin for sexual assault of a child and had been previously removed from the United States.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested two USCs, six illegal aliens from Mexico, and seized a passenger car near Sahuarita, Arizona. As agents approached the vehicle, six subjects exited the vehicle and attempted to abscond. Two subjects were rescued from the trunk which had to be forced open by agents. One of the subjects was transported to a local hospital for treatment of dehydration.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the 18th Street gang. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for assault on a federal officer and had been previously removed from the United States.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 44.6 pounds of methamphetamine and a passenger vehicle near Laredo, Texas. A Border Patrol canine at a traffic checkpoint alerted to the vehicle and the driver fled from the checkpoint. The vehicle containing the methamphetamine was later found abandoned.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Falfurrias, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction in the state of Minnesota for criminal sexual conduct and had been previously removed from the United States.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 166 pounds of marijuana and arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Esperanza, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Paisa gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,345 pounds of marijuana and a truck near Lukeville, Arizona. Agents observed the vehicle traveling across the desert and later found it abandoned. The marijuana was discovered in the abandoned truck.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested three illegal aliens from Mexico and seized a 9mm handgun with 14 rounds of ammunition near Ajo, Arizona.
