A Glossary of Islamic Terms – Part 2

The great war strategist, Sun Tzu, said “know thine enemy.” Today we are going to continue looking at the meanings of Islamic terms we started last week to help us understand who we are dealing with. Islam is the enemy of our way of life because it is the enemy of freedom. The more we know about Islam the more we will be able to understand the strategies Islam uses against us.

Before we get started I would like to say a few words about what President Obama did this past week. He refused to allow the Muslim Brotherhood to be added to our terrorist list. He released a statement saying that there is no evidence that the Muslim Brotherhood is a terrorist organization.

This is not surprising to us. It seems that the President is in the pocket of the Muslim Brotherhood. What is ironic is that there are Muslim countries like Egypt who are declaring that it is a terrorist organization. We even had the United Arab Emirates declare that CAIR to be a terrorist organization. Remember, CAIR is a Muslim Brotherhood front group. Just a few years ago we had a trial on the financing of terrorist groups and 5 members of the Muslim Brotherhood wore found guilty and sent to jail.

Hamas is the daughter of the Muslim Brotherhood and it is on our terrorist list. The Hamas charter says they are the Muslim Brotherhood and calls for the destruction of Israel. It has been reported that in Egypt they are bringing Obama up on charges of being an agent of the Muslim Brotherhood.

The refusal to declare the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization is a grave national security threat. This seems to border on treason. The Muslim Brotherhood must be laughing heir heads off. Their own documents say they will destroy us using our own “miserable hands.”

We need to wake up and see what is going on. We have enemies within and we, the people, need to rise up against them and put a stop to this.

Now let’s get back to our glossary.

26. The Kaaba is a square stone building in Al-Masjid-al-Haram (the well-known mosque at Makka). Muslims line up in prayer facing towards this direction. It is covered by a large black cloth embroidered with gold thread to display Quranic verses.

We talked about the Hajj last week, and this is the place where Muslims go on the Hajj (pilgrimage). This building was called the “house of Allah” before Islam came into existence. Most Muslims don’t know the history of the Kaaba. They only know that they are to pray toward it and to make the Hajj once in their lifetime. All of the things Muslims do on their Hajj were done by the pre-islamic people in Arabia. The Hajj to the Kaaba is a continuation of the pagan practices of the pre-islamic Arab poeople.

Before the rise of Islam the Kaaba hosed 360 idols and Allah was the chief god over these idols. Today Muslims are taught that this is the place where Abraham was to offer Ishmael. Remember, Muslims believe that Abraham offered Ismael, not Isaac.

An important part of the Kaaba is the black stone that is called the “moon rock.” They believe that Adam descended out of Heaven on this black rock. This rock is still worshiped by Muslims and many of them and they believe that if the touch or kiss this rock their sins will be remitted. From this we see that although Islam claims to have rejected all forms of idolatry, it does, in fact, practice it.

One of the gods of the Kaaba was Hubal which is a derivatives of Baal and the worship of the Kaaba is a form of Baal worship. Even though the practices of Islam are the same as the pagans before Islam, Muhammad said that Allah commanded these practices.

27. The Kafir are the non-believers. This is closely related to number 28, the Kuffar, which is the plural of Kafir.

We, as non-Muslims, should be greatly offended by these words. The word actually means the filth or more technically the excrement. They often translate it with nicer words like infidel, but this does not remove its real meaning. The Qur’an teaches that Allah hates the unbeliever and this is why this word is used to describe those who do not follow Islam.

29. The Madrassa is simply a school where children go to learn.

30. The Mahdi is the Islamic Messiah. This is the one the Muslims are waiting for. They are also waiting for Isa, the Muslim Jesus, but Isa will serve the Mahdi. As I said last week, the Islamic teaching in this area is like looking at the teaching in Revelation in a mirror. Our Messiah is their Antichrist and our Antichrist is their Mahdi.

31. Mecca is the holiest city in Islam. It is claimed to be the birthplace of the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad.

32. Medina is called the city of the Prophet, It is about 100 km (60 miles) north of Mecca.

There is a major shift in the teaching of Islam between these two cities. When Muhammad was in Mecca he received what he claimed to be the early verses of the Qur’an. These are the verses that are supposed to be non-compulsive and peaceful. In these teachings Muhammad tried to get along with those of other religions, especially Jews and Christians.

After Muhammad was thrown out of Mecca and went to Medina his teachings changed. It is here that he became a warlord and where he received the latter verses of the Qur’an. This is also where the principle of abrogation was born. This is the teaching that the latter verses supersede the earlier verses of the Qur’an.

The latter verses teach that there is compulsion in Islam. It is these verses that tell the Kuffar to submit to Islam or die. Abrogation dictates that these verses have overrule the earlier verses. The Muslims can live under the earlier verses when they don’t have the power to compel non-believers, but when they reach a point where they can, they are to move to the latter verses.

33. The Minaret is prayer toward a mosque. It also means to pray toward the east or Mecca. A Muslim must always pray toward Mecca. This word is also used to describe the towers used to call Muslims to prayer. Some Muslim poets say the dome of a mosque is the helmet of the warrior and the minaret is his spear. This shows the war-like nature of Islam.

34. The Mufti is an Islamic scholar. He can issue a fatwa or a legal opinion. His fatwas are legally binding. There was the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem during WWII who was seen eating with Adolph Hitler. The Muslims fought along side the Nazis during WWII because they had the same goal of killing all of the Jews.

35. The Mullah is a scholar and is the legal counsel. Muslims art taught that they can’t really understand the Qur’an without the interpretation of a Mullah, much like the Catholic is told he can’t understand the Bible without the interpretation of a priest or the Pope.

36. The Muslim is one who is submitted or surrendered to Islam. Islam means surrender or submission, in particular, submission ot Allah. The Muslim is taught that he is to get everyone else to submit to Islam also. They are to use Dawah (evangelism) or coercion (force) to accomplish this goal.

One error that many non-Muslims make is to thing that all Muslims are Arabs, Only about 15% of the Muslims in the world are Arabs.

37. PBUH is an acronym for Peace Be Upon Him. When a Muslim says the name of Allah he is supposed to say “Peach be upon him.” It is also used of the prophet Muhammad and of Jesus. Its purpose is to show their reverence for the person. This, and other sayings like Alu Akbar, are like magic incantations to Muslims.

38. The Qur’an is Islam’s holy book. They believe that this was dictated word for word in perfect Arabic by the angel Gabriel from Allah to Muhammad. We know that this story has many holes in it. First of all, the Qur’an was never written down until after the death of Muhammad. Muhammad was illiterate and the Qur’an was all in his head.

Another problem is that the Qur’an is not in perfect Arabic. It uses words that are not Arabic.

A third problem is that there are different version of the Qur’an. When the Qur’an was first written down they found that there were 7 different versions. The caliph of the time decided to burn 6 of the versions and keep only one.

There is no original source of the Qur’an. We cannot go back and check to see if it is correct or not. On the other hand, the Bible has thousands of manuscripts which we can examine to find what the originals said. There is no ancient evidence that the Qur’an ever existed except in the head of Muhammad. Some say there are 116 chapters, some say 114, some say 112. There are a lot of problems with the Qur’an when we start looking at its history and origin.

39. Ramadhan is a month of fasting. During this month Muslims fast from sun up to sun down. On the last day of Ramadhan break the fast with a big feast.

Segment Four

We touched on some of these last week as we covered some to the other points like the 5 pillars of Islam. So, because of time, we will cherry pick the most important ones for the rest of this article.

Sharia means the pathway. In practice is is Islamic law. It is their legal system that governs every aspect of the Muslim’s life. It not only covers their religious law, it also covers their system of government, their financial system, social system, education system, etc.

Sharia is the part of Islam that is the most dangerous. If allowed to grow in the West it will destroy our whole way of life. It is what moves the Muslims to perform jihad and to kill unbelievers.

In America we have a constitution that we are supposed to follow. It is the basic law of the land. In Islam Sharia is the basic law of the land. The religious components of Sharia are very few. There is no separation of mosque and state in Islam. When Islam took over Iran it set up a Sharia government. The same thing is happening in Turkey, in Pakistan, in Saudi Arabia, it is what started to happen in Egypt when the Muslim Brotherhood tried to take over.

In the West many say we should just let Muslims follow their religion freely. We cannot because if they follow all of the teachings of Islam they must institute Sharia for non-Muslims. Part of the teaching of Sharia is that they must bring non-Muslims under submission.

An example of this is seen in Europe where Muslims are trying to force all schools to serve Halal meat. This is part of Sharia. They are demanding that men and women be segregated in schools, which is also part of Sharia. When they demand that someone like Shahram who has left Islam must be killed, that is Sharia. When Muslims try to shut down churches because they sing hymns with the windows open or restaurants because when they cook bacon the smell offends Muslims, that is Sharia. When Muslims say you can’t criticize Islam, even though we have free speech laws, that is Sharia.

We have freedom of religion laws in America so we must separate the religious component of Islam from the legal component. If they want to pray 5 times a day, if they want to go to their mosque, if they want to eat their halal food, fine, that is their right in America, but we can’t let them impose their religion or their Sahara law on the rest of us.

People need to know that our courts are vulnerable to Sharia being introduced by judges giving consideration to foreign laws in their judgments. This is why there is an initiative to pass state laws that limit American courts to American laws. We have written on the subject in other posts. This movement wants to forbid the consideration of foreign laws by American courts of those laws violate our guaranteed constitutional rights.

There are only about 8 states that have passed this kind of law. This means that there are 42 states that are still vulnerable to Sharia being introduced into their legal system.

Organizations like CAIR claim that they don’t want to instill Sharia in America but we can see that this is not true because they are actively opposing all efforts to keep Sharia out of our courts. They claim that it is islomophobic and that it is anti-constitutional.

The danger comes through what is called legal precedence. When one judge rules in a given way, another judge can use the precedence set by this ruling in his judgment.

The last word I want to look at today is Shirk. Shirk is the greatest sin in Islam, it is considered blasphemy. It is taking something and making it equal with God. Islam teaches that this is what Christians have done. They say we have taken a man, Jesus, and elevated Him to the position of God.

This is not what Christianity teaches at all. Christianity teaches that God became a man. One of the names given to Jesus is Emanuel, which means God with us.

The sad part is that Islam is deceiving 1.8 million people. That is 25% of the world’s population. One in four people in this world is a Muslim and they have been told that Jesus is not God. They are also told that Jesus did not die on the cross. If this is your view of Jesus then you don’t have the Gospel and you cannot be saved without it. The Devil has deceived these people and we must do all we can to reach Muslims for Christ. This is one of the major goals for Fortress of Faith and the TIL Project.
