Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,088 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) at the traffic checkpoint near Laredo, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the trailer and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.
Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 3,135 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the load and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.

Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual assault with force in the state of New Jersey and had been previously removed from the United States.

Detroit Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,233 prescription pills, a GMC van, $3,668 in U.S. currency, and arrested a USC near Detroit, Michigan. The subject did not have a prescription for the narcotics which included Xanax, Vicodin, hydrocodone and oxycodone. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior felony conviction for receiving/concealing stolen property.
El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,022 pounds of marijuana, a Ford truck, and arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico near Animas, New Mexico. Agents attempted to conduct a vehicle stop and the driver failed to yield. Agents successfully deployed a controlled tire deflation device and stopped the vehicle. Both subjects actively resisted arrest, but were taken into custody. The marijuana was discovered in the vehicle.
Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents discovered a cross-border tunnel near the DeConcini Port of Entry in Nogales, Arizona. The incomplete tunnel extended 15 feet into the United States.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 258 pounds of marijuana and an abandoned Isuzu Trooper near Calexico, California. Agents received a report of an ultralight aircraft (ULA) incursion and responded to the suspected drop zone to investigate. The abandoned vehicle containing the marijuana was discovered at the suspected drop zone.
Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Hebbronville, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had several prior convictions, including one for aggravated sexual assault on a child in the state of Texas. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.
Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,430 pounds of marijuana and a Ford truck near the Rio Grande River in Fronton, Texas. The vehicle failed to yield to agents and a controlled tire deflation device was successfully deployed. The driver of the vehicle absconded, and agents discovered the marijuana in the abandoned vehicle.
Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,665 pounds of marijuana near Lukeville, Arizona. The marijuana, bundled into makeshift backpacks, was abandoned by a group of suspected narcotics smugglers who absconded into Mexico.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,614 pounds of marijuana and two Ford pickup trucks near Penitas, Texas. The vehicles were observed leaving the Rio Grande River area at a high rate of speed, and were subsequently found abandoned. Agents discovered the marijuana in the abandoned vehicles.

As agents approached, the driver of the van made an abrupt u-turn and returned to the riverbank where he and several other subjects absconded into Mexico. A search of the vehicle revealed the marijuana inside.
